The
Center’s community mobilization program is a youth-led program
that regularly engages some 1,600 young people in activities designed to
promote an open, creative cultural atmosphere and support young people in their
efforts to participate in building the kind of communities they aspire to live
in. Activities include networking and coordinating with community
organizations, “contemplation” workshops, cultural competitions and art exhibitions.
Youth can also develop and refine their individual talents through a variety of
courses offered through the Center’s cultural program including
drawing, charcoal drawing, writing, crafts, music, fine arts, and
folklore. The Center also organizes exhibitions for artists and workshops
to produce collective works. One of the Center’s most popular media
program activities is Radio Clack-it, a daily 24-hour on-line radio
program. The youth-run station hosts programs on a wide range of social and
cultural issues of concern to youth draws almost 2,000 listeners monthly.
